- Framed examination results. Consists of two documents. The upper document certifies that Ina Leeson passed Part I of Junior Matriculation exams, held July 1899 in Aylmer. The lower document certifies that Ina Leeson has achieved Junior Leaving Standing, as of July, 1901. At the upper left corner of both documents is the crest of the Education Department of Ontario. It is displayed in a wooden frame and overlaid with glass. The inner border of the frame has been painted white with gold accents, and has been carved in relief with a leaf pattern. The outer border has been painted mint or light green with gold accents, and has been carved in relief with grape vines.
Full text, upper document: "THE HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS. FORM II., PART I, OR JUNIOR MATRICULATION, PART I. No. 38921. It is hereby certified that Ina Leeson passed the Form II., Part I., Examination, or Junior Matriculation Part I., Examination held in July 1899 at Aylmer. [Subjects: - Arithmetic and Mensuration, English Grammar and Rhetoric, and the History of Great Britain and Canada, and Physics.] [?], Registrar of the Educational Council. Dated at the Education Department, Toronto, Twenty-Second August, 1899."
Full text, lower document: "Part II. Junior Leaving Examination. (County Boards of Examiners and all official Bodies are advised that this Document gives no standing other than as indicated in the Schedule and defined in the Addenda.) Ina Leeson, candidate at the Part II. JUNIOR LEAVING EXAMINATION held at Aylmer in July, 1901, is entitled to the Standing indicated in the Schedule annexed. Certified, [?], Registrar of the Educational Council. Dated at the Education Department, Toronto, August 20, 1901. Addenda. 1. A Part II. Junior Leaving Certificate, together with a Part I. Junior Leaving Certificate or its equivalent, gives full Junior Leaving Standing. 2. The subjects of the Part II. Junior Leaving Examination are: Grammar and Rhetoric, Composition, Literature, Historiy, Arithmetic and Mensuration, and Physics. 4. Pass standing (33 1/3 p.c.) in one or more of the subjects of the Part II. Junior Leaving Examination is accepted pro tanto for Part II. Junior Matriculation. SCHEDULE. (a) Maximum for each paper, 100. (b) Requirements to pass, 33 1/3 in each paper and 50 p.c. of the aggregate. Requirement for honors, 75 p.c. of the aggregate. (c) Candidate did not write on the cancelled subjects ; he failed in the subjects where marks are given; he passed in all other subjects and was awarded the Standing indicated.
