- History / Biographical
- The Soldiers' Aid Commission was established by the Province of Ontario through Order-in-Council in 1915 to provide emergency financial assistance to Ontario veterans and/or dependents of the First World War. The Soldiers' Aid Commission Act of 1916 subsequently established a series of local boards under the administration of the Department of the Attorney General to review applications and disburse funds. The County of Elgin administered one of these local boards.
