History / Biographical

In 1908 the Elgin Golf Club's founding Directors, including Dr. Franklin Orchard Lawrence and Robert Marshall Anderson, moved the course from Pinafore Park to a 40-acre site located east of St. Thomas on Talbot Street known as The Hughes Property where a new 9-hole course was built. By 1920, this new location could no longer support the needs of an increasing membership and a new location was found at Union where a new 18-hole championship course was built on the 100 acre site and the Club officially changed its name to The St. Thomas Golf and Country Club.

Series consists of various records relating to the Anderson family's involvement in the game of golf, and to the history of the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club.
