- Obituary and article on David McLaws published in the St. Thomas Times-Journal. Mr. McLaws served as surrogate court clerk and registrar for Elgin County for 45 years. He was also Deputy Reeve of Dunwich Township and an Elgin County Councillor from 1869 to 1871. The article is entitled "Took Leading Part in Municipal Fight That Resulted in Railroads Coming to Elgin County". It profiles the debate at County Council to grant a $200,000 subsidy to the Canada Southern Railway. Mr. McLaws was instrumental in the debate.
