- Scope and Content
- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published May 20, 1967 with caption: "The Ceremony of Sipping Tea - Of all the pleasant ways women meet together for a pet "cause" none is more enjoyable than the custom of exchanging pleasantries over a cup of tea. This can be said to be especially true of the annual Elgin Pioneer Museum tea, which is sponsored jointly by members of the Women's Institute of Elgin County and the IODE Chapters of St. Thomas. Held yesterday afternoon and evening at the museum amid a patriotic setting of flags, in keeping with the Centennial year, the event was an unqualified success. Mrs. M. C. Moore is pouring while standing from left to right are Mrs. Bruce Paker, Mrs. R. D. Macdonald, Mrs. Herbert Jackson, Mrs. John Wise, Mrs. Albert Auckland and Mrs. Charles Phillips. Centennial dress was the order of the day."
