- "Inspects Cadets - The 82nd Annual Cadet Inspection of No. 7 Central Elgin District Collegiate Cadet Corps was presented at the Chestnut Street School yesterday with a large turnout of cadets providing the show for approximately 500 spectators. The cadet corps is the oldest of its kind in Ontario. In the above picture, Lt.-Col. J. W. McNeil, commanding officer of the Elgin Regiment and inspecting officer at yesterday's inspection, reviews the troops along with other members of the party."(15a)
- "Self-Appointed Mascot - As the reviewing party made their way amongst the troops, "Mike," a German Shepherd dog owned by Mayor V. A. Barrie, followed the group onto the parade grounds. Seeing the dog accompanying him, Mayor Barrie motioned for "Mike" to stop. The dog decided to pick the shadiest spot on the field, in front of the Color Party, to wait for his master. There he remained, unconcerned with the goings on until the reviewing party made its way back to the saluting base."(15b)
