- "Classrooms Take Shape - The photo above shows the east side if the new wing at the Central Elgin District High School where work is being speeded in an effort to have at least a portion of the addition ready for the school opening in September. The $702,000 project was begun about 10 months ago and when completed will almost double the size of the school, providing accommodation for 1,000 students. Included in the addition are 10 standard classrooms, two laboratories, two shops, a new cafeteria and multi-purpose room. The Ellis-Don Construction Company of London is the over-all contractor. On Thursday afternoon a Times-Journal photographer compiled the following picture story."(13a)
- "Well-ventilated - proper ventilation is essential in a busy classroom and the workers above will see to it that the students at the CEHS "breathe easily." Robert Danforth (left) and Ron Tinlin, of St. Thomas, employees of the Mold Metal Craft of London, are seen working on ventilation equipment."(13b)
- "Take a Look at This - J. Fred Green (centre), architect on the big school addition, looks over a set of blueprints with Jim Pinkerton (left), superintendent of the Ellis-Don Construction Company, and G. W. Trevithick, principal of the CEDHS. In the background is the building which is rapidly taking shape."(13c)
- "Pitch and Gravel Mix - A 20-year bonded roof topping some of the classrooms is seen getting the finishing coat of gravel and tar mix by employees of the Williamson Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd., of London and St. Thomas. Tom Brooks of London is pouring the pitch while wielding the grooms from left to right are John Lohen, London; Charles Wilcox, St. Thomas; Henry Boisclair, London. Standing to the right of the latter is George Walters, St. Thomas manager."(13d)
- "Shocking Work - Electrical wiring could be a touchy business for the uninstructed, but for these Wilson and Somerville electrical workers it presents no problem. Shown in the picture from left to right are Lorenzo Marini, Mike Golding and Gordon Nieuwland, all of the St. Thomas, and the panel they are wiring is situated in the existing kitchen at the Central Elgin District High School."(13e)
