- History / Biographical
- The Rodney Branch 525, Royal Canadian Legion, received its' charter in October 1951.
- Custodial History
- Prior to their donation to the Elgin County Archives in March, 2010, the photographs composing the fonds were in the possession of Rodney Branch 525, Royal Canadian Legion. Items C2 Sh5 B4 1 to C2 Sh5 B4 7 and C2 Sh5 B4 9 to C2 Sh5 B4 13 had previously been in the Village of Rodney Archives and were turned over to the Branch for safe keeping. Items C2 Sh5 B4 8 and C2 Sh5 B4 14 to C2 Sh5 B4 35 were previously framed and displayed in the Clachan Hall. These photographs were deteriorating, so in 1989 they were removed from their frames and turned over to the Rodney Legion.
- In 2008, the Branch loaned the photographs to the Archives for inclusion in it's First World War digitization project. The photographs were scanned and retouched digitally to remedy, in the digital version, some of the damage found on the originals. Where the damage involved facial features, often nothing was done. We felt it was better to leave them as they were, rather than risk altering the subject’s appearance. The photographs were returned to the Branch in March, 2009.
