- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published March 9, 1974 with caption: "Reception-Dinner Held- A special reception and Mess Dinner in honor of Lord and Lady Elgin was held by the Elgin Regiment (of which Lord Elgin is Honorary Colonel) Friday night. Some 90 persons were on hand for the dinner held in the armories in St. Thomas and many of that number were at the reception held at the residence of Lieut. Col. V. A. Barrie, Honorary Lt. Col. of the Regiment. Shown at the reception, are left to right, Brig. Colin A. Campbell of Toronto, a trustee of the Macdonald's Brier and president of the International Curling Federation; Mr. Barrie; Lt. Col. R. A. Karn, commander of the Elgin Regiment; Lord Elgin; and St. Thomas mayor Eber Rice. Lord and Lady Elgin are in Canada mainly to attend the Brier at London but are also arranging details of the planned trip to Scotland, later this year, by members of the Elgin Regiment."
