- Scope and Content
- Five black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published June 7, 1958 with captions:
- "Tent Lines- The Elgins were in tents at the Meaford Range, and didn't seem to mind the frosty nights at the start of their week in camp. Seen here in the tent lines are, left to right, Lieut. M. Haycock, Capt. M. A. Johnson, Lt.-Col. J. W. McNeil, Capt. D. Smith and Major. R. L. Chantler." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 11a)
- "Chow Line- It's all axiomatic- an army moves on its stomach- and the Elgins at Meaford fared well in the field. Here is a chow line scene at noon one day this week with Cpl. William Topping, right, mess tins in hand, coming past the row of dixies where the cooks served up a hot dinner." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 11b)
- "That's Where- Major George S. Till, who directed the tactical training exercises during the Elgin Regiment's week at Meaford, is seen centre pointing out a feature of the area used in manoeuvring Sherman tanks. At left is RSM William Beales. Right is Major R. L. Chantler, second-in-command of the regiment." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 11c)
- "On Refresher Course- Two officers of the Elgins had the opportunity at Meaford of taking a refresher course for upgrading from captain to Major. They were Capt. David Smith Jr., left, and Capt. M. A. Johnson, adjutant." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 11d)
- "Gain Tactical Experience- In camp at Meaford this week, officers and men of the Elgin Regiment (27th Armored) have been gaining valuable experience in tactical training with Sherman tanks on the vast expanse of the Meaford range overlooking Georgian Bay. Members of the crew in this picture are co-driver Tpr. Ryckman and driver Cpl. Marr, and in the turret, Trps. Scott and Marshall and Sgt. Orval Huras." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 11e)
