- Five black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published August 9, 1957 with captions:
- "I Spy- Cpl. Ian McNabb uses a telescope to keep watch on the troops. From his vantage point, he maintained constant check on the proficiency of the men moving under fire." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 9a)
- "Section Advance- Skill and fitness are demanded in the advance to the enemy's position. Short, quick moves forward, and taking cunning advantage of all natural cover is part of the modern, army training." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 9b)
- "Ready? Let's Go!- Trooper Keith Ferguson, St. Thomas, anxiously waits for the signal to advance into action. Knowledge acquired in training was put to a test within minutes." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 9c)
- "Exercise Perspire- As the cadets took a breather during a lull in the battle, some of the young men decided the tactical test was well named. For the troopers, Exercise Perspire meant a realistic culmination of weeks of training." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 9d)
- "Elgins At Petawawa- Nearly 100 members of the Elgin Regiment (27th Armored) are undergoing field training at Petawawa this week and being specially favored by the elements. They've had ideal weather compared with other summers when they have been either rained out or have hit it hot. In the above photo, Capt. S. J. Abel is seen briefing his crew at the outset of Tuesday's exercises, the scene being in the Elgin's tank harbor with a row of 35-ton Shermans in the background. His crew members, left to right, are Troopers E. W. Chapman and K. R. Doan and Sgt. D. E. MacDonald." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 9e)
