- "Pop Parade- Elgin Regiment cadets relax in the canteen after working up a thirst in their first group training spell Monday morning. Busy coping with the demand for pop, candy bars and gum is Canteen Sergeant W. L. Baldwin." (C8 Sh4 B1 F1 6a)
- "Long And Short Of It- Sixteen-year-old Eric Thurston looks up to Corporal J. Ricketts, 17, during the first day of training Monday for cadets of the Elgin Regiment. Cpl. - "Elgin Regiment's 'D' Squadron Cadets Mustered- Launching a seven-week program of cadet training at the Wilson Avenue Armory Monday morning, the Elgin Regiment mustered its 'D' Squadron of 155 cadets from affiliated corps at the St. Thomas Collegiate Institute, the Arthur Voaden Vocational School and the East Elgin High School at Aylmer on the drill square in front of the Memorial Community Centre. Here they are seen just before breaking off into troops to begin work on the training syllabus. The Elgin Regiment's cadet squadron is the second largest in Western Ontario Military Area only that of Essex and Kenth Scottish being larger." (C8 Sh4 b1 F1 6d)
