- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published October 13, 1972 with caption: "Preparation For Plowing Match- Local politics was the subject of the conversation while these men informally prepared a field for the Elgin County Plowing Match on Saturday. The match begins at 10:00 a.m. on the farm of John and Doug McKinlay on the Union Sparta road, just east of Union. Ken Bawden, R.R. 7, St. Thomas, and Reg Clinton, R.R. 7, St. Thomas, measure the furrow while Richard Andrews of R.R. 6 St. Thomas, drives in the stake. Watching are Albert Andrews, R.R. 6, St. Thomas (left); John McKinlay, owner of the farm, Cliff Young, R.R. 2, St. Thomas, Albert Auckland, R.R. 7, St. Thomas, and Doug McKinlay on the tractor."
