- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published September 25, 1971 with caption: "Keen Competition- The Elgin County Branch of the Ontario Plowmen's Association annual plowing match got underway this morning at the farm of Joseph Auckland, R.R. 7, St. Thomas, with upwards of 20 contestants vying for prize money. Department of Agriculture representative A. V. Langton, secretary treasurer of the association (centre), is seen here looking on while Judge Norman Barber of Owen Sound measures the furrow plowed by 14-year-old Fred Johnstone of West Lorne (on the tractor). The presentation of awards and an address by guest speaker Rev. Barry Thomas will take place tonight at the Talbotville United Church."
