- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published July 22, 1980 with caption: "Blood Preserved - When the blood which is collected at donor clinics arrives at the London Red Cross Centre, it is taken to the component lab and broken down into parts which are used for different treatments. The plasma, or protein part of the blood, is frozen and kept indefinitely in large freezers. Above Veronica Whittaker, a lab helper, examines a package of frozen plasma, which is labelled with the blood type, date, and a number which can trace the original donor."
