- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published May 10, 1978 with caption: "Truck-Train Collision - Above is what's left of a 1978 truck driven by John B. Beacom, 24, of 24 Highview Street, [St. Thomas], at about 6:55 a.m. today. Mr. beacom is in St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in fair condition with a fractured right leg, St. Thomas hospital spokesman said. St. Thomas OPP reported the truck received about $6,000 damage in the collision with the left front corner of the locomotive. The train received about $100 damage. Passenger in the vehicle, Glen Ostrander, 21, of 6 Applewood Crescent, [St. Thomas], was admitted to St. Thomas hospital for observation for minor head injuries, St. Thomas hospital spokesman said."
