- Scope and Content
- Coloured postcard showing the a train of the London & Port Stanley Railway on the platform in Port Stanley, Ontario. The small station can be seen to the left. Numerous people preparing to board the train can also be seen. The back of the postcard has a typed bio for the photograph: "London & Port Stanley railway. The platform of the London & Port Stanley's Bridge St. station in Port Stanley is busy with excursion passengers on Feb. 17, 1957, as cars #14 and 8 form a special train from London. Both cars have since gone to museums, but the station continues to serve as a passenger terminal for thousands of annual tourists who ride the diesel-powered excursion trains of Port Stanley Terminal Rail each year. PSTR has operated the St. Thomas--Port Stanley section of the former L&PS since 1983. Port Stanley is located on Lake Erie, about 50 km south of London." Photo is by J. Wm. Hood.
