- History / Biographical
- The Township of South Dorchester was formed in 1852 on the separation of Elgin from the County of Middlesex. The township was responsible for the Village of Springfield, until Springfield was incorporated as a separate entity in 1877.
- On January 1, 1998, the Township of South Dorchester, Township of Malahide and Village of Springfield amalgamated to form the Township of Malahide.
