- Photographs of Gil Forgue standing in front of a New York Central Railroad Company train with Frank Darlington, J. H. Babcock, R. Moody, Patrick J. McManus, Max Norman and B. Slaght. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, March 6, 1953, page eleven: “Gil Forgue Gets Send-Off at N.Y.C.” 2_2943: “After 38 years’ service with the Canada Division of the New York Central Railroad Company and some two or three years with the C.N.R.-Wabash and C. & O. prior to which he was an outstanding baseball player, coach and umpire, Gil Forgue has officially accepted superannuation. He is taking two weeks’ vacation before his retirement becomes effective on March 19, 1953. For over 25 years he has been a yard conductor in the St. Thomas terminal yards. Greeting him on his last day—he has been on the midnight to 8 a.m. shift for many years—were a number of officials and fellow associates. In the above group are the following: Frank Darlington, J. H. Babcock, relief yardmaster; R. Moody, conductor; Mr. Forgue, Patrick J. McManus, general yardmaster; Max Norman, and B. Slaght, yard foremen.”
