- Scope and Content
- Photographs of Basil Evertett and Stanley Scidmore. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, September 25, 1952, page twelve: “Suggestion Was Worth $125.” 2_1739: “Basil Everett, 10 Eagle street, a spray painter employed at the General Motos diesel plant in east London, was presented yesterday with a cheque for $125 by officials of the company for a valuable suggestion he had submitted under the company’s reward plan. His idea had to do with an economy which could be effected by the use of mastic tape. Mr. Everett did not feel he was entitled to the whole of the reward, having shared development of the idea with a co-worker, Stanley Scidmore, of Lynhurst, and so he will split the proceeds with Mr. Scidmore, right above. The presentation was made by Bruce Morrice, of London, personnel supervisor at the big G.M. diesel plant, who was accompanied here by Bert Pearson, London, and Charles Duncan, St. Thomas, both members of the suggestion plan investigating committee. Mr. Everett is recuperating from an illness at his home. Hence the presentation was made there instead of waiting until he was able to return to work.”
