2_1753: “Members of the Forestry Club at the East Elgin High School, Aylmer, who took part in Wednesday’s events at the Aylmer Fair, are in the above photograph, left to right; Jim Chilcott, Terry Chinnery, Bill Fitzpatrick, Cornelius Trembley, Kenneth Murphy (zone forester for the Middlesex and Elgin territory), Fred Prong, Bob Baxter and George Vrag.”
2_1755: “Ronald Prong, 13, the youngest member of the East Elgin High School Grain Club, directed by W. W. Wood, agriculture teacher at the school, holds a sheaf of oats he entered in the club’s display at the Aylmer Fair.”
2_1758: “Quality in the Ayrshire breed of dairy cattle is shown in the above picture, viewed by a man who knows his Ayrshires, John L. Stansell, Aylmer, dean of Canadian breeders and showmen. Exhibiting the grand champion and reserve grand champion females are Jimmy Hardy, herdsman, and Marvin Green, of W.H. Green and Son, Cainsville, Brant County. Mr. Hardy’s nine-year-old daughter, Marilyn Hardy, led a class of 14 Western Ontario boys and girls in showmanship with her calf. John L. Stansell, shown at the rear, was one of the founders of the Canadian Association.”

2_1748: “Aant Elzinga, R.R. 1, Aylmer, repeated his triumph of a year ago at Junior Day at Aylmer Fair, Monday, by again winning the Royal Bank trophy for showmanship among calf club members. Aant came to Canada from Holland with his parents four years ago. His father is herdsman for Stansell Brothers, Ayrshire breeders.”

2_1752: “Catherine Pinneo, Aylmer, one of the local equestriennes, who excelled in the saddle and jumper events at Aylmer Fair, Tuesday afternoon. She is shown performing a perfect jump in the Elgin County jumping events. Two Pinneo horses finished first and fourth in this event: Hueston’s horse of Aylmer was second, and Dick Davies, St. Thomas, on his Lady Elgin, was third. In the road hack class, one of the main events, Dick Davies was first, Jack Richards of Aylmer was second; Russ Paddon, St. Thomas, third; Miss Roberts, London, Ont., fourth.”

2_1749: “W. D. (Don) Shore, R.R. 6, St. Thomas, was the premier exhibitor at the Black and White Day of the Elgin Dairy Cattle Show at Aylmer Fair, Tuesday. He took eight first prizes and won the grand championships in both male and female classes, as well as the junior and reserve junior championships in females. He is shown with his outstanding cow, Royal Model Calamity Patsy, which was named senior champion and grand champion of the Show. Nearly one hundred top Holsteins of the district were in competition.”
