2_1437: “How wonderfully well-trained are the paratroops of the Royal Canadian Regiment was apparent in the way they executed the mass drop in a simulated attack on the Yarmouth Centre airport Wednesday afternoon before thousands of Centennial Week celebrants. Two “sticks” of paratroops just after they had jumped from a flight of four Dakotoas at an elevation of 1,000 feet above the field, may be seen, in this dramatic view.”

2_1439: “Lady Elgin (right), who is here with her husband the Earl of Elgin and Kincardine, for the Centennial of Elgin County, is shown watching the special program at the Civic Airport at Yarmouth Centre on Wednesday afternoon. With her (left) are Mrs. J. M. Pocock, of London, On., wife of Brigadier Pocock of the First Canadian Infantry Brigade (RF), and formerly Marion Roe, of St. Thomas; and Mrs. T. H. Currah, wife of Mayor Currah.”

2_1440: “Viewing the spectacular drop of R. C. R. paratroops in the attack Wednesday afternoon on the Yarmouth Centre Airfield were Lord Elgin, left; Brigadier J. M. Pocock, of London, who commands the 1st Canadian Infantry Brigade (R. F.); Capt. D. C. Irwin, of Western Ontario Area headquarters, who served as liaison officer arranging the participation of the Elgin Regiment in the show; Lt.-Col C. A. Low, officer commanding the Elgin Regiment; and Major J. F. Peterson, D. S. O., former mayor of St. Thomas and now with the Royal Canadian Regiment at Petawawa after serving with the regiment in Korea.”
2_1442: “This picture shows a part of the enormous crowd which flocked to the Yarmouth Centre Airfield after the Centennial parade in St. Thomas Wednesday afternoon to see the paratroops’ attack scheme and ground defense by the Elgin Regiment.”
