Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, June 11, 1952, page nine: “Ladies’ City Bowling Champions.” 2_970: “At a banquet held in Canadian Legion Hall Tuesday evening, members of the St. Thomas and Country Club bowling team, winners of the ladies’ city bowling championship were presented with individual miniature trophies by B. A. Young, of the St. Thomas Bowling Lanes, in recognition of their victory. Mr. Young was sponsor of the city championship event and also tendered the banquet. The championship was decided about one month ago with representative teams from various bowling leagues in the city competing. The Golf and Country Club team was composed of members from the Gold and Country Club’s own six-team bowling league. Miniature trophies were also presented to winners of the men’s city championship team, the C.N.R.-Wabash entry consisting of Al Tracey, Fred Wise, Jack Fluelling, Gordon Gellantly, Bob Wells and Mack Freeman. Individual trophies were presented to Ellen Thompson and Jack Benn for high average, Helen Finlay and Earl Crooker for high single and Wayside Inn trophies’ to Bucky Buckan and Patricia O’Sullivan for high triples.
