2_907: “On Monday afternoon, Alumnae Day at Alma College, the new pipe organ was dedicated in the beautiful chapel of the school. The organ is the gift of the Alumnae to the college in memory of all members who have passed on. The Principal, Dr. P. S. Dobson, conducted the impressive service, during which the gift was formally made by the president of the Alumnae Council, Mrs. Earl Sweitzer, of Kitchener, who presented the bronze plaque which she holds in her hand. The dedicatory service was conducted by Rev. G. C. Raymer, Granton, formerly of St. Thomas, of the College Board, whose wife, a past president of the International Alumnae Council, is among those whose memory is honored by the gift, and the plaque was received on behalf of the College by Forbes Raven, chairman of the Board. From left to right, the photograph shows Dr. Dobson, Mrs. Sweitzer, Rev. Mr. Raymer and Mr. Raven, standing by the console of the organ.” (…)
Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, June 3, 1952, page eleven: “Alma College Alumnae Council Executive.”
2_905: “Following their annual meeting, the members of the International Council of the Alumnae of Alma College were guests of the college on the South Lawn. The members of the newly elected executive are photographed here, chatting with the retired president. From left to right, they are: Mrs. Keith Bodkin, of Aylmer, the president; Mrs. H. G. Glaves, of Hamilton, secretary; Mrs. Hadley Brown, of Windsor, a second vice-president; Mrs. Earl Sweitzer, of Kitchener, the retiring president; and Mrs. Morley Gain, of St. Catharine’s, first vice-president. The new treasurer is Miss Gertrude Morgan, of London, Ont., who was unable to attend the afternoon session.”
