2_786: “Given a rousing send-off by parents, friends and fellow students, 44 young people from Grade 12 of the Arthur Voaden Vocational School left St. Thomas shortly after eight o’clock Wednesday night on a special coach attached to a New York Central train for a four-day tour of New York City. Accompanying the group are two staff members, Miss Pauline McManus and Miss Gertrude Cole, and two ex-students, Ron Bell and Bill Paddon. The trip is largely financed by a travel club at the school. Seen here prior to their departure are (left to right), Ron bell, a former student who went with the group last year to Ottawa; Patricia McNaught, president of the Travel Club; Miss McManus, Miss Cole, Connie Kerhoulas, treasurer of the travel club, and Bill Paddon, who also went on the Ottawa trip last year. Others in the party are: Lois Beckett, Mary Caldwell, Ruby Connor, Joy Edwards, Shirley Godkin, Pauline kaplanis, Rosaleen Long, Margaret Martyn, Vivian McCaw, Lorna Padgett, Joyce Pell, Nancy Simpson, Beverlea Sullivan, Marlene Williams, Carol Wright, Harry Always, John Begg, Jim Beharrel, Ray Broadbent, Floyd Catt, Bruce Davey, Dick Dougherty, Arthur Dubber, Peter Hepburn, Gordon Iles, Louis Kirk, Don Knight, Ernest Lautebach, Bob Neal, Grant Plyley, Graham Sanderson, Don Skelding, Bob Stormes, Donald Swift, and George Wise.”
