- Scope and Content
- Photographs of St. Thomas veterans of the Korean War: Sapper W. A. Lavery, Sgt. C.P. (Chet) Smith, and Pte. C. H. Marlatt being interviewed by Ron Davies of the Times-Journal. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, May 23, 1952, page thirteen: “Exuberant Soldiers Home From the War.” 2_783: “Facial expressions radiated the happiness of three St. Thomas veterans of the Korean War who came home on Thursday and who are here seen chatting with Ron Davies, of The Times-Journal. Their worries were gone and it was hard to get in a word edgewise, they were so full of things they wanted to talk about. Full of vim and vigor when the above picture was taken, the boys could hardly wait to get out and around and see the city. All are here on 60-day leaves with their families and friends. In the picture, Reporter Davies appears at the left and the soldiers are Sapper W. A. Lavery, R.C.E.; Sgt. C.P. (Chet) Smith, of the Royal Canadian Regiment and Pte. C. H. Marlatt, of the R.C.A.S.C.”
