Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, May 3, 1952, page eleven: “Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Brown About to Celebrate Their 60th Wedding Anniversary."
2_688: “On Monday, May 5, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Brown, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary in the quiet setting of their 41 Elysian street home. Their friends and neighbors or relatives are bound to drop in. “We have no plans and are not expecting anything but a quiet day,” says Mr. Brown.
“Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown, who came to St. Thomas in 1901, more than 50 years ago, have enjoyed good health almost all their lives. But during the past two or three years, each has suffered a heart attack, and their activities have had to be curtailed.
“Neither look their age – both were born in 1866—and appear fit and trim. They are friendly persons and easy to talk with. The welcome mat is always spread at the front door, with Mr. Brown even inviting this writer, a stranger to come for supper and partake in “his” home-cooked food.”
