- Photographs of George Dennis and Sons Cow's Millie Rag Apple DeKol. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal on January 20, 1951, page eight: “Yarmouth Holstein Champion.” 1_1391: “Millie Rag Apple DeKol, owned by George W. Dennis & Sons, Yarmouth Township (R.R. 8, St. Thomas), who recently completed a production test which showed as the holder of the world record for milk in its class over all breeds and a world record for Fat for the Holstein breed in Canada. The record of this cow was 18,658 pounds of mile containing 669 pounds of 3.59 butterfat on a 305-day test on twice-a-day milking. Mill is a senior two-year-old.” The new champion was raised on the Dennis farm, her dam being Mildred Rag Apple DeKol and her sire was also born and raised on the Dennis farm. He is Wayne Rag Apple Commander, now owned by the Kemptville Artificial Insemination Unit. Wayne’s mother was also a Canadian record-holder. She produced 25,126 pounds of milk, with 1,029 pounds of 4.5 butterfat on 365 twice-a-day milking.”
