2_3499: “The Elgin Regiment Trumpet Band was host Sunday afternoon to the quarterly meeting of the Canadian Bugle and Trumpet Bands Association, held at the Wilson Avenue armory and attended by about 60 representatives of bands from many cities throughout southern Ontario. Business covered during the all-afternoon session included formulation of a new basis for competition at the Waterloo Music Festival this summer, Prof. C.F. Thiele, organizer of the festival, being present from Waterloo to offer his guidance. Also formulated was the policy under which other musical events of he coming season will be conducted, particularly as it applies to completion between bugle and trumpet bands at tattoos and festivals. Prominent among those present at the meeting were, left to right above: Roy Manning, Toronto, first vice-president: James Jackson, Toronto, second vice-president, Clarence Chessel, Toronto, secretary; Lorne Kelterborn, Toronto, president; A.B. Ellis, St. Thomas, immediate past president, Prof. C.F. Thiele, Waterloo.”
