2_3021: “Bayham township started the observance of its centennial as a separate municipality last Saturday, at a special meeting of the Township, Council, when the minutes of the first meeting of the fist council, held on January 21, 1850, were read. Seated at the table, wit the original minute book between them, are, left t right: J.D. Vallee, clerk of treasurer of Bayham, and Arba A. Johnson, reeve. Standing behind them, left to right: Councillor William Mitchell; Deputy Reeve Charles F. Jackson; Councillors Lyle Coyle, son of Charles D. Coyle, M.P., a former reeve of Bayham and warden of Elgin County.; Councillor Walter Nelson.”
