2_1371: “Ten of the twelve members of the Elgin regiment’s NCO School we set a record of the unit this year by passing without a failure and all with exceptionally good standings appear in the above group photograph taken after parade Tuesday evening when they were formally promoted by Lt.-Col. F.H. Medcalf, O.F. Five new corporals appear in the front ranks, from the left: Cpl. K.C. Barnes, Cpl. C.E. McDowell, Cpt. T. Ward, Cpl. H.G. Jacobs and Cpl. J.A. Roberts. In the rear are four new sergeants, Sgt. Jack Taylor, Sgt, A.L. Bridgman, Sgt. B. Pilgrim, Sgt. R.C. Simms and Cpl. D. Littlejohn. Two were unable to attend who will become corporals. They were John Kaplanis and W.H. Johnson. The Intensive training conducted in the NCO School and in the conversion courses for three junior officers who were also successful in passing their examinations late last month was supervised by Major J.W. McNeil.”
