Caption from the St. Thomas Times Journal: “Elgin Schoolboys and Farm Folks are Guests of County Councillors.” ‘Elgin Councillors Present Awards to Young Champions: Ingersoll Telephone Company Is Taking Over Harrietsville System; Federation Presents Report.” 1_3981: “Twenty-six Elgin schoolboys and junior farmers were guests of the Elgin County Councilors, Tuesday, following a custom started in November, 1946. Each Councillor was asked to bring one boy or youth; some brought two. Unfortunately, William Hare, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hare, Malahide, arrived too late to be included in the above photograph.
