In the order of their ages, they finished first, second and third. They were photographed right after the match with their proud mother, Mrs. Roy Lyons, 4 Omemee street, St. Thomas. Left to right: Douglas Lyons, aged 27, Wallacetown, who finished third; Mrs. Lyons; Wallace Lyons, 38, Iona Station, who finished second; Ray Lyons, 40, Dutton, who took first honors." 1_3601: "Team Drawing Contest - A sturdy team owned and driven by N. C. Srigley of Wheatley, Ont., tied for first place in the team drawing match which was a feature of the Elgin Plowing Match. The contest was a novelty for this district and attracted hundreds of spectators. The teams had to draw a stoneboat, loaded with bags of gravel, at least 12 inches, in three trials. The dead weight of the final load was about four tons. Mr. Srigley also won the special prize he put up for the best teamster in the match." 1_3604: "Only Woman Contestant - Mrs. Douglas Lyons of Wallacetown was the only woman to plow in the Elgin County match, Wednesday. It was her first attempt to plow in a match and she had only plowed about three hours previuosly/ While she was winning honors in her class, her husband, Douglas Lyons, took third prize in the horse plowing class for Elgin contestants. They are shown above measuring the furrows in Mrs. Lyons' land."
