- Scope and Content
- Photographs of members of the Talbot Lodge, No. 546, A. F. & A. M. [Ancient Free and Accepted Masons] on their 29th anniversary. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal: "Talbot Lodge Observes Its 29th Birthday: Members of Talbot Lodge, No. 546, A. F. & A. M., celebrated the 29th anniversary of the founding of the lodge on Thursday evening when more than 150 were present to take part in ceremonies conducted by Capt. W. H. Corrie, one of the founders of the lodge and worshipful master in 1922. Many of the old-timers of Talbot lodge were present, including four of the original officers. In addition to Capt. Corrie, they were John F. McBain, H. E. Macdonald and W. A. McPherson, all past masters (the latter has been secretary of the lodge ever since its organization). In the above picture (left to right) are W. A. McPherson, C. H. Roberts (district deputy), Capt. Corrie, J. F. McBain and H. E. Macdonald. A number of members of the lodge now living elsewhere attended, among them Ross Kent, of Detroit, who became a member a year after the founding of the lodge. Worshipful Master W. G. Saxon, stepped down for the evening for Capt. Corrie, who acted as chairman and who gave an interesting reminiscent talk. Clarence Roberts, D.D.G.M., also addressed the gathering and Sheriff Ian D. Cameron gave his highly interesting illustrated talk on the early days of St. Thomas. A buffet lunch was served at the close of the evening."
