- Scope and Content
- Photographs of the St. Thomas Air Cadets as well as other attendees at the R.C.A.F. Technical Training School's Air Force Day show. Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, 2_2441: 'Air Cadets Demonstrate Model Planes at Aylmer Air School: One of the most interesting demonstrations given at the R.C.A.F. Technical Training School's Air Force Day show on Saturday was a flight exhibition of model aircraft by members of the St. Thomas Air Cadets. Unfortunately for the owners of the model planes, who had put in many hours' work building them, high winds forced down most flights and caused several crashes. Here are some of the boys with their models, from the left, Dick O'Bryan, John Kaplanis, who is holding a plane of revolutionary design, the brainchild of Gordon Sutherland, and Don Brown and George Antonavich, all of St. Thomas." Caption from St. Thomas Times-Journal, 2_2443: "R.C.A.F. Station at Aylmer Busy Spot on Air Force Day; Exhibits Were Outstanding: Demonstrates Engine at Aylmer School: R.C.A.F. Corporal J. B. Roy, formerly of Lampman, Sask., now residing in St. Thomas with his family, takes pride in demonstrating a Bristol Perseus aircramt engine on display at the Aylmer Technical Training School during the Air Force Day show Saturday afternoon. Cpl. Roy, who spent three years at T.T.S. during the war when the school was located south of St. Thomas, has been on the staff of the school at Aylmer since January, 1945. In the group are, left to right, Cynthia Eastwood, Mrs. B. Eastwood and Keith Eastwood, Cpl. Roy and his young son, Johnnie, all of St. Thomas."
