- Five black-and-white negative photographs featuring Aldborough Public School hat day, in February 1987.
- R13 S3 Sh6 B5 84a was published in the Rodney Mercury on February 26, 1987, with the caption: “APS Principal Ballantine acted as magician for Mrs. Ebba Buttinger’s grade 1 students Thursday afternoon. Having quite a repertoire of slight-of-hand tricks, he is seen holding two cups up under a book without them falling, and he pulled a multi-colored kerchief out of them to students’ amazement. In their language program students were reading about the circus and magicians.”
- R13 S3 Sh6 B5 84e was published in the Rodney Mercury on February 26, 1987, with the caption: “Aldborough Public School’s grade 1 class, of which Mrs. Ebba Buttinger is the teacher, enjoyed Hat and Magic Day Thursday, when each wore a hat of their choice, and Principal Dave Ballantine formed magic acts in the afternoon. Because he couldn’t pull a rabbit out of his hat, each student had one in theirs, which they pulled out after he admitted he could not.”
