- Scope and Content
- Four black-and-white negative photographs featuring a gravel truck that flipped over, on March 3, 1983.
- R13 S3 Sh6 B4 144a was published in the Rodney Mercury on March 3, 1983, with the caption: “Alex Long’s gravel trucks rolled over Monday noon at the bottom of the 14th con. and Black’s Lane, dumping its 13-ton load of A causing between $600 and $700 damage to the driver’s side of the truck. He was driving up the 14th hill west of Black’s Lane, but did not shift down soon enough to negotiate the incline. Then the air brakes failed, resulting in him having to back the vehicle down the grade. To stop it Alex backed into the hillside, but the truck was going too fast so rolled on its side. Both roads were closed three hours, until Staddon’s Towing got the truck back on its tires. Aldborough’s Road department reloaded the gravel truck. The accident was investigated by Const. Earl Menard.”
