First Snowmobile in Port Burwell - Built by Ezra Potter in 1917.

- Scope and Content
- (on back) Mr. Ezra Potter. As told by Nellie Foster, age 89 at the time of her passing in 1973. Ezra was a very nice young man who apprenticed as a tinsmith at A.R. Wright Hardware. He married Jessie Boughnen and later started his own hardware on main Street in Port Burwell. He called at dances, locally. When he was around 29 years of age he built the snowmobile in the photograph. (The Lakeside Hotel, as it was then, is in the background of the picture). Ezra apparently moved to Detroit shortly after this picture was taken, possibly around 1917. This motor was later used on the bicycle of the doctor in town and even later by Lyal Tait's father on his bicycle. (Mrs. Gwen Foster)
