- Scope and Content
- One black-and-white negative photograph featuring the east drain on Queen Street, which was rerouted, on August 14, 1975.
- W9 B7 111 was published in the Rodney Mercury on August 14, 1975, with the caption: "Rerouting the Queen St. E. Drain was started last week by backhoe operator Bruce Payne and Gordon Rose. Although it was known to have a low spot in it at the Agricultural Hall, it worked well until sewers were installed and since then many property owners along the drain's upper reaches on Ridout St. have had water in their basements. The drain's outlet was poorly designed originally, with the tile facing into the flow of water down the Milton Drain on the north side of Queen St. The engineer was questioned on this, with that year's council suggesting the outlet be on the downstream side of the street so flow would not be affected by water in the ditch. Council conceded to the engineer's demands, but now the new route of the tile is to the south side of the road where it should have been originally. In the meantime, Ridout St. property owners are pretty provoked at the length of time it is taking to repair the drain and over the amount of work they have to go to each time it rains to clean up their basements."
