- Zaccheus Burnham was born on February 20, 1777 to Asa Burnham and Elizabeth Cutler. He was a farmer, judge and political figure in Upper Canada. On February 1, 1801, he married Elizabeth Choate. They settled near Cobourg and had six children, including: Elizabeth Burnham (born 1802), Rev. Mark Burnham (born 1804), Achsah Burnham (born 1809; married Edward Ermatinger of St. Thomas), Maria Burnham (born 1812), Asa Burnham (born 1814), and an unknown child. Burnham died on February 25, 1857.
Burnham was the grandfather of Charles Oakes Ermatinger, a lawyer, judge and politician who represented East Elgin in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1883-1886 as a conservative member.
