Shoemaker points to bolts and nuts which were part of the Middle St. distillery, and which still are evident at the site. Several other such bolts and nuts are there also. The mound of earth in the left background formed part of the dam for the creek which runs on the right." Published in the Mercury-Sun on September 11, 1968. (W11 B6 170a) Captioned: "Timbers in the creek mark the spot of the distillery. Ed. Shoemaker is seen standing on them and figures they had something to do with the mill's under-slung water wheel.
