- History / Biographical
- This round brick barn was built in 1908 by Wilson McCredie, the former proprietor of McCredie Brick and Tile Yard. During a trip to Ohio, McCredie was inspired by a round building he saw and was determined to bring the design home to Elgin County. The bricks used to build the barn and a house on the same property, came from his own brickyard. At the corner of what is now Crossley Hunter Line and Imperial Road, it was a familiar landmark for many years, but was demolished in 1980 due to poor condition and safety concerns.
- Scope and Content
- Photograph featuring an aerial view of a house and barn built circa 1908-1911 near Lyons, Ontario. The property was originally a 350 acre farm and the bricks for the home and silo were made across the road.
