- Digitized copy of an original survey plan of the Township of Romney, County of Kent, registered January 18, 1832, Surveyor General's Office, York, William Chewett, Acting Surveyor General. Legend reads: "Surveyed by M. Burwell Esquire. Copied by J.G.C." (James Grant Chewett, Official, 1810-1819, Deputy Surveyor, 1819-1832, and Deputy Surveyor General, 1832-1841 in the Surveyor General's Office at York). Scale 1 inch equals 40 chains. Annotations dated 1832-1836 show the names of grantees resident on various Township lots. Named geographic and cultural features shown in this plan include Lake Erie, Talbot Road, Muddy Creek, Two Creeks, Yellow Creek, and Crooked Creek. Several lots are marked as reserved for or granted to "Burwell", and a related notation reads "NB Mahlon Burwell Esquire has not drawn his percentage for the survey of 23,909 Acres in this Township. W. Chewett, Acting Surveyor General." Several lots are marked with gray ink (indicating Clergy reserves) and red ink (indicating Crown reserves).
