- Digitized copy of an original survey plan of the Township of Howard, County of Kent, registered January 23, 1824, Surveyor General's Office, York, Thomas Ridout, Surveyor General. Annotated "Copied from M. Burwell's Plan of Survey" (i.e. plan F 501-1-0-0-14, registered November 30, 1816) and initialled "W.C." (William Chewett, Clerk in the Surveyor General's Office and later Acting Surveyor General, 1829-1832). Scale 1 inch equals 40 chains. Named geographic and cultural features shown in this plan include Lake Erie, Thames River, Talbot Road, Middle Road Line, and "Road between Howard and Harwich". Footpaths are shown travelling north from Lake Erie to the southern limit of the second concession, and from Lake Erie in the direction of Chatham (as shown and named in plan F 501-1-0-0-14). The future site of the Town of Ridgetown is shown (as yet unnamed, and not separated or laid out). Two large tracts are outlined and individual lots marked in gray ink (indicating Clergy reserves) and in red ink (Crown reserves). Numerous lots are marked as reserved for or assigned to Mahlon Burwell.
