- Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published April 24, 1967 with captions:
- " High winds and cold temperatures did not keep smelt-fishing enthusiasts away from the pier at Port Stanley on Saturday night as the spring-time sport got under way for another year. Wrapped in heavy coats and scarves, the amateur fisherman, reported catches as light. They said Friday was a better night." (27a)
- " Rectangular nets, winter coats and perseverance were the necessary ingredients for smelt fishing Saturday night at Port Stanley. Catches of the Lake Erie fish were reported light. About 50 enthusiasts battled waves washing over the pier and near-freezing temperatures to enjoy the sport." (27b)
