- Two black and white photographs used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published April 13, 1981 with captions:
- "Examines Damage - Sgt. Wayne Howard of St. Thomas Police examines damage to an unmarked police cruiser caused by a rifle shot from the gun of George Krautner, 38, of 136 Elm Street. Krautner was later killed in the altercation with police." (25a)
- "Death Scene - Backyard at 117 Elm Street where 38-year-old George Krautner died early Sunday after he was shot by a 12-gauge police shotgun. Krautner was near the picnic table facing Constable Steve Withenshaw behind the fence when the police officer fired after the dead man took aim with his own weapon, a .22-calibre rifle. Police say the constable had no choice but to fire." (25b)
