- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published May 4, 1974 with caption:"African Violet Show - The Golden Acres African Violet Club of St. Thomas held its spring show at the YWCA on Friday afternoon. Here, the top winner in the show, Mrs. Isabel Gillard (left) of RR 4, St. Thomas shows one of her winning entries to the runner-up Mrs. Sam Barrett of 87 Locust Street, St. Thomas. Mrs. Gillard was named Queen of the Show and Open Sweepstakes winner for her eight first place winning plants. Mrs. Barrett captured four firsts. In all, 12 entrants with dozens of violets entered the competition."
