History / Biographical: The Research Committee of the Local Committee for the 1985 International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Show was formed in January 1981 to direct preparations for holding the 1985 International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Show in Elgin County and specifically to elect members of the Executive Committee. Research Committee members included John Anderson, Richard Andrews, Ken Bawden, Grace Campbell, Lorne Carroll, Ron Lackey, Ron McNeil, Jim McQuiggan, Marion Millman, Ken Monteith, Doug arry, Elgin Wells, John Wise and Bill Caverly.

Scope and Content: Series consists of records created, collected and maintained by the Research Committee of the Local Committee for the 1985 International Plowing Match and Farm Machinery Show. Series includes minutes; correspondence; and final reports and other records of International Plowing Matches held in the Region of Durham (1975), Huron County (1978), Kent County (1979), Oxford County (1980), Simcoe County (1981), Middlesex County (1982), Region of Ottawa-Carleton (1983), and Wellington County (1984).
