- Scope and Content
- Two photographs (38) and (39) show the Old Mud Blacksmith Shop. The Old Mud Blacksmith shop was built about 1827 by Mr Keller. During the Rebellion of 1837 the shop was used to stable calvary horses. In 1839, the first machine made roof was added, replacing the slab roof. Mr. Oille did woodwork, painting, iron work and worked as a blacksmith. In 1944, the shop became the possession of the Sparta Sorosis Women's Institute, as a gift from Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Smith. "Ye Olde Forge & Anvil" was opened on November 19, 1947.
