- Scope and Content
- Black and white photograph used in St. Thomas Times-Journal article published March 5, 1976 with caption:"Sunset Drive Closed - The large accumulations of water in the past few days from both melting ice and rain have taken their toll on Sunset Drive, on the hill just from the St. Thomas Pollution Control plant. A large crack in the pavement has in essence severed about a 500 square foot portion of the roadway, prompting the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to close the highway from Elm Street to the traffic lights at the intersection of Wellington Road and Highways 3 and 4. MTC employee Eric Davies points to the crack in the pavement which is continuous for about 50 yards. MTC soil testers examining the bank under the road described the soil "as soup". One MTC employee on the scene said: "It could go any minute" ".
